Smart cities become "smart" by collecting data through a network of sensors that allow them to plan and operate more efficiently. When launching its Air Quality Sensor Testing and Deployment pilot, the City of Portland, Oregon, questioned the sustainability of deploying hundreds of sensors that could not be reused or recycled. Using its procurement process, an often-overlooked sustainability tool, the City was able to address this challenge while evaluating potential vendors. This webinar explores how smart cities around the world can play a crucial role in reducing the e-waste associated with sensors.
